Romantic Beach Picnic & Wine For 2

As the day of red roses, soppy poems and fluffy teddy bears approaches, I thought I’d share a little piece of advice – this Valentine’s Day give an experience to your special someone. It’s a gift that won’t wilt and definitely won’t gather dust.

RedBalloon has hundreds of amazing experiences to show someone how much you love them and the Romantic Beach Picnic & Wine For 2 is my pick!

I booked the experience as a surprise for my boyfriend, Adam, not telling him where we were going or what we were doing. This was great fun as it kept him guessing in anticipation. As we arrived in Manly I revealed that we’d be spending the day relaxing on a beautiful beach that was only accessible by boat. He was very excited and delighted at the idea, big brownie points for me!

We were warmly welcomed by the crew and invited to put our picnic supplies in the esky; this was also keeping chilled the bottle of sparkling wine we’d soon be enjoying! We boarded the boat and we’re given two options for getting to our destination – either quickly or at a more leisurely pace, we decided to take the latter, the sun was shining and we were in no rush.

Along the way our captain, Andrew, provided us with some interesting snippets of history about the Manly area. Including that it received its name from Governor Phillip after he was greeted by a group of unarmed ‘manly’ looking Aboriginal men.

We arrived at the Store Beach and were instantly impressed by the stunning location and decadent set up. For our comfort there was a huge umbrella, table, chairs and lounge beds. We settled in to our spectacular setting and decided it was time to pop the sparkling.

We toasted and took a moment to take it all in – amazing location, all the luxuries provided and wonderful company. There was nothing more we needed!

We spent the next four hours indulging in our picnic lunch and swimming. The guys even threw in a Frisbee and Soccer Ball which provided for some fun!

Store Beach is totally isolated in that it can only be accessed by boat. As it was a beautiful sunny Sunday boaters and kayakers came and went throughout the afternoon. Everyone was very friendly, with the occasional person stopping for a chat and commenting on how envious they were of our set-up.

At the end of the afternoon, we could not have been more happy and relaxed. Eventually our boat arrived to take us back; although we could have easily stayed for many more hours.  As the final nice touch all the packing up was done by the crew, so all we had to do was climb aboard and leave our beach paradise.

When we arrived at the dock we thanked the crew for the impeccable service they provided, it is definitely an experience we’d love to do again!

Whether it be for Valentine’s Day, an anniversary, engagement or just for the opportunity to share some romance this experience is unforgettable! And I’m told for an even more private experience, book during the week and you’re likely to have the place ALL to yourselves!
