It’s the classic argument…where to go for the weekend away. One wants to get close to nature and is happy to ‘rough it’ on the cold hard ground where as the other wants glamour and luxury. Check out what happens when two RedBallooners conduct this social experiment to see if you really can get the best of both worlds.
Becca and Gilbo share: “Aren’t camping trips supposed to be a comedy of errors? Leaky tents, uneven ground and wildlife eating our food. That’s what I’m used to anyway. I guess that is where ‘camping’ and ‘glamping’ differ!
As soon as we arrived, we knew there was going to be none of that and we relaxed immediately. This is by no means your standard camping trip. After arriving on site we were shown to our tent which looked more like the cubby house of an Oil Shakes son, than any tent I ever stayed in. The room provided maximum comfort while still taking advantage of the wild surrounds. There were floor board throughout with a huge comfy bed and fully plumbed bathroom but maintained that camping feel with the canvas canopy and mesh windows and entry.
Then we got to the age-old issue of the loo! We were then told that our toilet was truly outdoors but had beautiful views of the forest. Not painting an amazing picture, right? Well…yes! It was outside, and Yes, it did have beautiful views of the forest (because that’s a must-have when you’re sitting on the john) ┬ábut was still secluded enough so as to avoid an awkward conversation with our neighbours, equipped with full plumbing and again, raised off the ground.
The next morning after a delicious cooked breakfast we went cycling through the forest on the complimentary bikes, then went for a walk along the whitest sand beach in Australia. After some lunch in town we took the complimentary kayaks out for a paddle along the river taking in the scenery.
Dinner was magnificent and was topped off by some reading time by the fireplace with a good book.
Overall the weekend was very relaxing and the staff incredibly friendly. I would recommend this to everyone.”
