A RedBalloon Christmas

…Kasey Fuller shares her story about how RedBalloon celebrates the most wonderful time of the year.

Christmas time in the workplace is always a happy one for most companies and employees (most RedBalloon employees will tell you we are happy all the time, which is totally true) but Christmas time is extra special when you work at RedBalloon due to the celebrations and treats we receive starting from November 1. Even though it is our busiest time of the year there is always time for fun and treats.

On the very first day of December, every person at RedBalloon received an advent calendar delivered to their desk (everyone loves an advent calendar no matter how old you are). Some were good, like me, and only ate their one chocolate a day, others were not so good and ate theirs all on the first day. Throughout the month we were also spoilt with more chocolaty gifts.Max Brenner chocolates, Lollyshop treats and a Santa cookie jar on our desks to share filled with chocolates, lollies, chips and biscuits which got filled up many times a week. The freezer was also filled pretty much weekly with lots of different ice creams and ice blocks. You have to be quick to get your favourite. This was just the start; none of the celebrating had even begun…

We started with our monthly company meeting which always includes breakfast of bacon, eggs, fruit, yoghurt, muffins and more. The meeting was held by the IT team; Performing a Nativity play on how they believe RedBalloon was founded, with the whole team dressing up as Christmas characters, and some not so Christmassy. (not sure Darth Vader and Batman were part of the Christmas story.)

A few days later we were again spoiled with breakfast to start off our Christmas party celebrations. This time breakfast was waffles with Max Brenner melted chocolate and fruit to top it off. Yum!

After enjoying a yummy breakfast it was back to work, but only for a few hours as when it came around to lunch time there was a smell of a sausage sizzle all throughout the office for everyone to again enjoy, and waiting for everyone upstairs was a photo booth for us to take crazy pictures with our team and colleagues.

Towards the end of the day there was still excitement in the office as it was the night of our Christmas party. Everyone was getting dressed in their sparkly attire for the night’s celebrations. We all made our way, with our partners into the city where we first enjoyed a video – “RedBalloon 2012″, and then all got together for a few drinks and some food, dancing and chatting. It was a great night with everyone looking fantastic in their sparkles.

Throughout the rest of the month we were continually spoilt with more edible gifts, Christmas lunches, our favourite beverages and even a massage at our desks from one of our experience providers. With Christmas decorations being put up all through the office and Christmas carols playing for most of the day everyone was in the Christmas spirit and ready for Christmas Eve where we enjoyed another yummy breakfast followed the most fun part of all, Kris Kringle! Everyone had fun opening their gifts in all shapes and sizes and sharing with their colleagues.

After a full on year getting ready for Christmas it is great to work for a company that isn’t always so serious and makes their employees feel welcome and loved. We all really appreciate the work our Employee Experience team does to make sure everyone is happy, not just at Christmas but all throughout the year.

To top off our Christmas celebrations and our December, we all got our photo taken with Santa!

We hope your workplace and Christmas was as fun and exciting as ours was!!
