Take a (sky)walk on the wild side

Our Customer Experience Consultant Shae walked 268 metres above Sydney, and lived to tell the tale.

This month is my 2 year anniversary at RedBalloon, and what a journey it has been.

I have been lucky enough to go on lots of amazing experiences, including sailing around Sydney Harbour on an America’s Cup yacht, creating delicious treats in a cupcake baking class, relaxing over high tea and wining and dining in the Margaret River… but I won’t continue; I don’t want to make you too jealous.

One of the best things about working at RedBalloon is the people we work with. Every trimester we arrange a team activity or  outing, and last trimester the Customer Experience team did the Skywalk at Sydney Tower Eye.

On the day of the experience, we headed out with a dark cloud quite literally hanging over our heads. It was absolutely pouring down with rain. We knew right then that this wasn’t going to be your usual skywalk – it was extreme skywalking!

When we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly team at Sydney Tower and received our goodie bags. We then headed to the Sydney Tower Eye to watch a 4D movie.

After that we checked in, got into our sexy blue space suits and held onto the edge for dear life. Just kidding, we put on our safety harnesses first – it was extreme skywalking, but not that extreme!

The harness was attached to a railing, so that we were able to walk safely around the tower. As the roller door opened and we stepped out onto the edge of the tower, we were greeted by some pretty amazing views of Sydney.

That's Shae on the front left!

One of my colleagues is really afraid of heights, but she coped extremely well. We all felt like we were in safe hands. Our tour guide was very entertaining so we all had laugh along the way.

Our experience was wet and windy, but it all added to the adventure and actually made the experience more fun.

The RedBalloon Customer Experience Team

I can’t wait to go on another adventure with my team – who knows what we’ll get up to next?
